We do not know if Rockstar Games will announce GTA 6 anytime soon or not, but one thing we know for sure is that the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming. And if you choose to believe all the rumors and leaks going around, this console is going to be one hell of a powerhouse too.
Some claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 was showcased to a bunch of developers during Gamescom behind closed doors. And that is one heck of a unit!
Nintendo Switch 2 would be a next-gen powerhouse!
Nintendo has decided to show its next-generation console to a number of handpicked people. This showcase happened behind closed doors at Gamescom 2023. They also allowed players to try their hands on Super Mario Bros. Wonder during this show, but somehow Nintendo Switch 2 has overshadowed that anticipated game.
The best part about it is that the Nintendo Switch 2 is said to be capable of running The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 4K 60fps. It was also reportedly running Unreal Engine 5’s The Matrix demo with ray tracing on. Some claim it was using Nvidia’s DLSS 3.5; others claim it was DLSS 3.1; this means DLSS was being used, but people are not sure about its version.
One final thing that everyone is talking about the quick load times. Nintendo Switch 2 reportedly capable of loading games much quicker than the original Switch. So much so that gams that took 30 seconds on the previous console takes a second on this one. That’s some hefty improvement to be sure.

If all this turns out to be true, we might have a powerhouse in our hands. One thing that must be kept in mind is that when Digital Foundry talked about this console, they specifically mentioned that even if it’s this powerful, they have to make sure it plays nice with the battery available.

This makes us believe that maybe this console would present all those fancy visuals only when it was docked. This would not be a bad thing; I am personally okay if I get to play Tears of the Kingdom on my Nintendo Switch 2 at 1080p 60fps in handheld mode!
When can Nintendo announce their next-gen console?
Nintendo announced the first Switch back in October of 2016, and they launched it in March of 2017. If one has to guess, it may be Nintendo Switch 2 next month and then launch in March 2024.
This is very wild speculation on my part, but let’s be honest with ourselves: if things are moving at this speed at Nintendo, they are obviously planning a reveal very soon. Let’s hope they show off the much-awaited Metroid Prime 4 running on Nintendo Switch 2, though.
We wonder if that unwanted Gotham Knights port was actually rated for this next gen console rather than the current Nintendo Switch?
