silent hill 2 remake platforms
Everyone who has even the slightest love for the survival horror genre, or the horror genre of games in general, would have at least heard of Silent Hill 2. Ever since its launch in 2001, the game has been hailed as one of the best survival horror games ever made.
This is not without reason; it is a very masterfully crafted experience. Even after the launch of exploitative titles such as The Last of Us Part II, Silent Hill 2 has the ability to make people feel things. And that’s why I am afraid of the upcoming PlayStation 5 remake.
The PlayStation 5 exclusive Silent Hill 2 remake has some heavy weight on its shoulders
The original game is still played by its fans, on and off. Silent Hill 2 on PlayStation 2 sets high standards for storytelling and music that many try to match but fail. Every enemy in that game is a well-thought-out amalgamation of how protagonist James Sunderland is feeling.

Those enemies show us his dark side, pointing at every complex emotion he was going through. Moving on to the Silent Hill 2 remake, like any other fan of the original, I have some doubts about this game.
Bloober Team has a mammoth task at hand, and it feels like they might end up failing at it. I say this by looking at everything they have worked on up to this point. A bunch of mediocre try-hard titles are not what fans are looking for.

The problem with trying hard is that they just cannot escape their habit of going overboard with stuff. And the problem with a game like Silent Hill 2 Remake is that if you go overboard with it, you actually end up with a parody of that game.
While there’s always a chance a developer can surprise people by doing something unlike anything they have done before, the legacy of Silent Hill 2 would make it even harder this time around.
I am still afraid of this game that I will see in the upcoming PlayStation 5 State of Play; it would be unfair of me not to give it a go. Let’s hope the developer actually ends up proving people like me wrong. After all, who does not like playing some good survival horror games?
