Ubisoft’s XDefiant has been on its way to becoming one of this year’s most talked-about games. This free-to-play shooter was announced by the publisher in July 2021. Ubisoft even held a bunch of closed insider tests of this game that year.
Ever since its announcement, the game has gone through a bunch of changes, the most crucial being Ubisoft’s decision to remove Tom Clancy’s branding from the title. Ever since then, there hasn’t been any news regarding its launch.
A huge update on XDefiant hints at its probable launch date!
Fans eagerly awaiting the launch date for this shooter would be disappointed to know that XDefiant is not any closer to its launch than it was last year. The biggest reason for this delay is that the game failed its submission to platform holders.

Sony and Microsoft have refused to let this game launch on their respective platforms, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X and S. This means it would take a little longer for Ubisoft to give its fans a final launch date yet.
A post on Ubisoft’s website specifically says, “When it comes to when we will release, the real answer is “as soon as we can. And we will continue to update you with more info when we have it.”
This means fans still have a long way to go before they get to XDefiant.
A game that combines the worlds of Ubisoft games
When Ubisoft announced XDefiant, players were no doubt excited. The reason for their excitement was very simple: it combined the best of Ubisoft. This live-service class-based shooter was announced to feature a number of factions known as “Defiant”.

These factions would include Wolves from the Ghost Recon franchise, Echelon from Splinter Cell, and Outcasts and Cleaners from The Division series of games. Ubisoft also announced that they have plans to add factions based on Far Cry and Watch Dogs.
But it looks like this will have to wait. But whenever it comes, XDefiant will be launching for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC.
And who knows, by the time it launches, maybe they would add Nintendo Switch 2 as one of the platforms?
