The Nintendo Switch has gained a reputation as a remake and remaster machine. Nintendo itself has solidified this by revealing a number of such titles for its system. And it’s not inherently a bad thing.
It has slowly become home to numerous exciting re-releases that fans cannot stop playing. Including a bunch of classic games that no one had even imagined seeing on modern platforms. And so, here’s a list of a few such games that are either remakes or remasters and are totally worth a try.
Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2
Some might call these games straightforward re-releases, but they do have a few improvements when compared to their Wii and PlayStation 3 counterparts. These can be considered among the best; we all know how much fun the Bayonetta series is, and these games even paved the way for Bayonetta 3 on the Nintendo Switch.

One must give them a go if they are fond of insanely fast-paced action games.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
This game rules without a doubt. Nintendo, out of nowhere, decided to remake the most unusual game in the Legend of Zelda series, and it turned out to be a mind-blowing success.

This game featured modern visuals and a bunch of gameplay changes that were required for its transition to a modern system.

Now we hope for a similar remake of The Link to the Past.
Pikmin 1 and 2
It did not come out of nowhere, but everyone was very happy to finally see the two original Pikmin titles come alive on the Nintendo Switch. And it might be surprising for some, but these games were gathering much more hype at that time than Pikmin 4. Fans were just glad to play them on the go.

Of course, Pikmin 4 has a modern flare to it, but these originals still rule.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
The original was a success, then it made its way to the New 3Ds consoles in an awkward manner, and that too became a moderate success. It did not look too appealing and ran somewhat badly. It was a marvel on that console, though, and the fact that it even worked was something out of the ordinary.

The game then came to the Nintendo Switch, and as its name suggests, this is in fact the definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles. It looks beautiful and plays like a dream.
Metroid Prime Remastered
Of course, Metroid Prime Remastered is on this list. I got a physical copy for my Switch, and it was worth it. The game looks just too good on the system. It runs at 60 fps, and there are numerous visual upgrades that make it look way better than the original. There’s nothing about this game that fans of the series can hate.

And for those who have yet to try these games, this can be an excellent entry point.
Red Dead Redemption
And finally, we have Red Dead Redemption, a game that can be considered one of the best open-world games on the Nintendo Switch. The game looks beautiful, even without any modern improvements, and it has aged surprisingly well for a title that launched in 2010.

The price might turn some people away from it, but those who do not mind paying a few bucks extra for a game with this much replayability and two sizeable campaigns would get it anyway.
So just go ahead and get your hands on any one of these games, and you will understand that the Nintendo Switch being a port machine is not such a bad thing.
