Elden Ring: Nightreign is a 2025 standalone co-op roguelike spinoff to 2022’s GOTY-winning open-world Soulslike, reimagining FromSoftware’s punishing boss encounters into a new, procedurally structured format. With each run divided into three days (Expeditions), players must face escalating challenges in the form of Night Bosses (Days 1 and 2) and the game-defining Nightlords on Day 3. This article ranks every primary boss in Nightreign – including legacy foes from Elden Ring and Dark Souls – by a combination of difficulty, lore importance, mechanical depth, and overall threat level.
Ranking Criteria
- Mechanical difficulty (attack patterns, aggression, adaptability)
- Lore and narrative significance
- Visual/arena design
- Community consensus on the challenge
- Solo vs. co-op complexity
Day 1 Bosses
34. Tibia Mariner & Those Who Live in Death
This skeletal boss remains one of the weakest encounters. Its slow attacks and lack of coordination make it a warm-up fight.
33. Demi-Human Queen & Demi-Human Swordmaster
A mild duo fight with a fragile Queen and a faster minion. Neither poses a major threat; crowd control and prioritizing the right enemies can make it incredibly easy.
32. Royal Revenant
Highly aggressive but low health and weak to healing magic and holy damage. Can be staggered easily with coordinated attacks.
31. Flying Dragon of the Hills
Aerial dragon fight with predictable flame attacks and long animations. Players can stagger it with coordinated leg and head strikes.
30. Wormface
Inflicts Death Blight via fog clouds. The threat is environmental rather than direct; it can be easily avoided through movement and spacing.
29. Bell Bearing Hunter
Fast, human-sized boss with a large sword and ranged throw. Can be baited and flanked in co-op; struggles under pressure.
28. Centipede Demon
A legacy boss with updated mobility and fire attacks. Still slow, with readable patterns. Easily staggered by group offense.
27. Gaping Dragon
Large health pool and intimidating visuals, but extremely telegraphed moves. Long but manageable fight.
26. Ulcerated Tree Spirit
Erratic and flailing, but very weak to fire. Thrashing attacks are hard to read solo but predictable in co-op.
25. The Duke’s Dear Freja
Two-headed spider with minions. Chaos comes from those smaller spiders; crowd management is the key here. Weak to fire and focused team attacks.
24. Grafted Monarch
A two-phase axe-wielder with a grafted augmentation. Phase two includes a tail or limb combo, but patterns are readable.
23. Smelter Demon
Radiates flame aura, causing passive chip damage. Slow, telegraphed attacks with punishable cooldowns.
22. Valiant Gargoyle
Twin stone knights with poison and aerial attacks. Manageable with target prioritization and lightning damage.
21. Battlefield Commander
Summons troops and buffs them. The challenge lies in managing multiple threats. Very tanky but slow.
Day 2 Bosses
20. Nox Dragonkin Soldier
Large, frost- or lightning-infused creature with sweeping and leaping attacks. Weak around flanks and back legs.
19. Fell Omen (Margit)
Returns with standard combos, projectiles, and delayed slams. Still fast, but easier with group pressure.
18. Tree Sentinel & Royal Cavalrymen
One main mounted knight and several minor ones. Requires target splitting and teamwork to avoid getting flanked.
17. Outland Commander
Stronger version of Battlefield Commander. Uses status effects and summons elite guards. Weak to elemental counters.
16. Great Wyrm
Large dragon boss with elemental breath. Huge health pool, slow movements. Weak when flanked.
15. Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast
Fast gravity-infused beast with rock armor. Weak to pierce and lightning, the head should be your primary target.
14. Dancer of the Boreal Valley
Elegant, combo-heavy boss with a second blade phase. Dodging spinning attacks is key.
13. Crucible Knight & Golden Hippopotamus
Knight with defensive prowess and a mobile beast partner. Must separate and isolate threats.
12. Ancient Dragon
Extremely long-ranged flame breath and high health. Weak to lightning; requires positioning.
11. Draconic Tree Sentinel & Royal Cavalrymen
Powerful lightning-infused Tree Sentinel and cavalry squad.
10. Godskin Noble & Apostle
Infamous duo with rolling, flame, and whip attacks. Must stagger one early or use crowd control.
9. Nameless King
Two-phase boss with a drake in Phase 1 and storm blade combos in Phase 2. High damage, needs coordination.
Nightlords (Day 3 Bosses)
8. Gladius, Beast of Night (Tricephalos)
A three-headed wolf that splits into separate wolves mid-fight. Weak to Holy. Coordination is essential.
7. Adel, Baron of Night (Gaping Jaw)
Crocodilian dragon with instant-kill bite attack. Weak to Poison. Flank positioning is critical.
6. Caligo, Miasma of Night (Fissure in the Fog)
Fog-based arena with poison clouds. Weak to Fire and Bleed. Requires environment awareness.
5. Maris, Fathom of Night (Augur)
Eldritch magic-user with dark projectiles and arena manipulation. Weak to Lightning. Movement is essential.
4. Gnoster, Wisdom of Night (Sentient Pest)
Fast-moving, moth-like boss with swarm mechanics. Fragile but chaotic. Weak to Fire.
3. Libra, Creature of Night (Equilibrious Beast)
The boss changes phases and elemental states. Weak to Madness, Fire, and Holy. Requires an adaptive strategy.
2. Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow (Darkdrift Knight)
Mounted boss with high-speed charge attacks and phasing blade. Weak only to Lightning. Extremely fast and aggressive.
1. Heolstor the Nightlord (Night Aspect)
Final boss with two phases, elemental barrages, and transformation. Weak to all major damage types. Longest and most complex fight in the game.
